Superscript & Subscript Generator
Convert supported letters, numbers and common math signs into copyable superscript or subscript Unicode. Compare both results, see which characters could not be converted, and copy the version you need for plain-text notes, exponents, footnote markers or formulas.

Subscript generator for formulas, indices and plain text
For a formula such as H2O, copy the Subscript result to get H₂O where Unicode provides the needed characters. Digits 0–9 and common operators have reliable subscript mappings; lowercase-letter coverage is partial and uppercase subscript letters are not available, so unsupported letters remain unchanged.
Unicode superscript is not font formatting
A word processor can raise ordinary text with formatting. Plain-text fields cannot carry that formatting, so this generator substitutes characters that Unicode already defines in raised or lowered forms. The copied result is text, not an image, CSS rule or downloadable font.
Why some letters stay normal size
Superscript and especially subscript coverage is uneven because the available characters were created for specific notation and phonetic needs, not as complete decorative alphabets. This tool leaves an unsupported character unchanged and lists it beneath the result. That makes gaps visible instead of silently replacing them with misleading look-alikes.
Useful plain-text examples
Digits are useful for exponents and reference markers such as x² or note¹. Subscript digits can represent compact formulas such as H₂O where plain Unicode is appropriate. These characters are convenient text substitutes, but they are not a replacement for semantic math markup, chemical typesetting or accessible document formatting when those formats are available.
Compatibility and accessibility
Rendering, search, pronunciation and field acceptance can vary by app, font and assistive technology. Keep important instructions, names and equations in an accessible source format when meaning matters, and test copied Unicode in the final destination.

Does every letter have a superscript version?
No. Coverage differs by character and Unicode version. Unsupported characters stay unchanged and are identified by the tool.
Is subscript coverage the same?
No. Subscript Latin-letter coverage is substantially more limited, while digits are well supported.
Can I copy both results?
Yes. Superscript and subscript each have a copy button with a manual-selection fallback if clipboard access is blocked.
Is my text uploaded?
No. Conversion and copy preparation run in your browser and this tool does not submit the entered text to WordPress.
